Short version: In the Family Guy episode, Brian works for an old lady for community service, and conflicts with her. Also, Peter houses an endangered bird in his beard.

In the Simpsons episode, Homer is supposed to take care of an endangered “Screamapillar” found in his koi pond, but injures it and is sentenced to community service under an old lady he conflicts with.

Family Guy = January 2002
Simpsons = May 2002

—————–

I’m tired of everybody always saying, “Oh, Family Guy is just a nasty rip-off of the Simpsons.” The fact is that EVERYTHING rips off EVERYTHING ELSE. Stop being prejudiced just because you don’t like the show.

    Actually I think it’s the other way around since The Simpsons was created BEFORE Family Guy.

    Although I really like both shows.
    I don’t hate either.

    The Simpsons debuted on December 17, 1989.
    Family Guy debuted on January 31, 1999.

    Also, there is someone (I can’t remember who) that works for both The Simpsons and Family Guy.

    Your example is a coincidence. The time between writing and airing an episode of animated TV is greater than 4 months.

    that’s one episode which is a coincidence as one user has said before me. You also contradicted yourself which deems your point invalid. “Did you know that The Simpsons copies Family Guy?” implying that Family Guy doesn’t copy The Simpsons. You say later “The fact is that EVERYTHING rips off EVERYTHING ELSE.” You sir, fail at arguing.

    Wow – what a rant. Chill dude – they are only cartoons. Take a chill-pill. Who cares what show copied what show? That has been done for the last 30 years….trust me – I’ve seen them all.
