ya’ll have a pretty brutal winter so I think that you should bring your koi in, if you have an unheated basement would be best
they don’t really need to be warm, just keep water from freezing
some people keep them in aquariums or plastic kiddie pools
or even those giant plastic totes, be sure to add some filters
or at least air stones, and don’t let the water get bad
don’t feed them when temp is 50 and below

Your pond needs to be deep enough that it will not freeze to the bottom. Check with your local extension service to see if yours meets that depth in your locale. You should also aireate sufficient to disturb the water surface maintains an area free of ice for gas exchange. The fish metabolism will slow drastically and they will eat very little–so do not overfeed and foul water.
