How do I take care of koi?

I’m moving and the last owners of the house I bought left a pond with koi. They said that the pond is 1000 gallons and there are 6 koi that are about as long as my forearm.

Make sure the filtering is working, change some of the water occasionally (you probably need some water condtioner to remove chlorine from the tap water) and feed them each day.

They are quite hardy and easy care fish, as long as you look after the water quality and give them some food they will be fine.

Biggest problem people have with Koi is that they dont realise that they grow a LEAST as long as your forearm, and need a 1,000 gal pond. As you do have a sensible size pond they should be no problem.
