Seeing as they weren't in "the BEST home before". The changes could just be taking affect. Goldfish are very hardy fish and tank switching would NOT be enough to kill them. Don't bother fretting or worrying about them, they just need to get use to things.
Be sure to not over feed them or anything out of the ordinary like that.
I also congratulate you on successfully keeping seahorses :)

Have you checked your Ammonia and nitrite in the tank just a thought ,it could be Ammonia is causing this problem .

Edit..it could be from being in the previous tank ,especially if they were not kept properly High Ammonia can cause long term problems well done for giving them a nice home and good luck.

1) Fancy's need 30 gallons for ONE, and +7 for every additional one
2) Common (Feeders) need 75g gallons for ONE, and +15 for every additional one.

So, I would move them to the koi pond asap.

Now, they could be sitting on the gravel for a few reasons

1) They're tired
2) The water quality is bad
3) They're sick

I'd get a lid, you may come home one day and find a dried goldfish on the floor.

It's possible that that's just what they do. Do you know if you fed them too much the day before? Do as much research as you can on that kind of fish. If they at least move around on the bottom, then they're probably ok. . .

first of all, please do not put a mirror in you bettas face, it stresses them out, cause stress and stress will make nitrite levals in the water rise and those small tanks are hard enogh to take care of as it is, please dont divide a tank that small either, a betta should have five gallons min. you need a heater to heat the water to 78 degrees, get a filter for your tank or the ammonia leval will raise and that will cause the gills of your fish to rot and burn. change twenty percent of the water every ten days or so, and always declorinate the new water. no catfish or anything else will fit in there. so dont try it if you want that fish to live. your betta will love you if you feed it freeze dried blood worms in adition to pellets. bloodworms are much more nutritiouse and will help keep his bright colors. never more than he can eat in two minutes once a day. also, dont put the tank in direct sunlight, and never put female bettas in the tank unless you are breeding them, in which case it would be for a short time only under the close suppervision of an expert. hope this helps!

Get some algae eaters like catffish and snails to keep tank clean. Guppies and mollies are no good- they will attack Beta's tail. You can buy separators for your tank so you can put in more male Betas. They are cool when they face off and let all their fins grow large- but you can do the same thing by holding a mirror up to them. Longfest they get is 2 inches for a big one, females smaller but fatter. If you have female they will mate and build a bubble nest which you will have to isolate or babies will be eaten by parents. Have fun!

Ok first....betta cant be kept in a big tank..they come from china where they are found in puddles. they need shallow water..they like to lay on the bottom and sleep alot and can not do this if there is too much water..they can not breathe..its like deep sea diving..3 pellets is way too much for one betta! he should get one MAYBE two betta pellets a day. i do not recommend getting a female, as usually they just kill them in captivity. He will not get bigger, and does not need much in his tank..i used simple tap water with an oil that took the chemicals out..they just need simple fresh water...mine lasted about 5 years but that is extremely old..usually they only last about 2.

Okay. Do you have a heater in the tank? Betta fish need heaters as they are tropical. :)

Secondly, 3 pellets a day is fine.

Thirdly, you need water conditioner, also known as dechlorinator, to remove the chlorine and chloramine from the water. You can't just let it sit and evaporate out like some people say you can, because, chloramine NEVER evaporates and is also toxic like chlorine.

Betta fish are pretty small, they only get an inch or two long (their body without the fins) max, so, yeah.

Fourthly, don't get a female betta for him! Breeding bettas is the only time when they should be together. Even when trying to breed, then will fight and often cause bad wounds. Breeding should only be attempted by someone who has studied how to breed them and then the process is done very carefully. If anyone tells you that you can keep a male and female betta together, you should just laugh at them, they know nothing. Only experts can attempt it. Personally I would never try it. They DO fight and often wound each other badly enough to die.

DON'T LISTEN TO PUPPYLOVECB. Bettas don't come from china, they come from thailand, from RICE PADDIES, which are not puddles. They are shallow, but not shallower than a 5 gallon tank. 5 gallons is PERFECT for a betta. My betta lives in a 10 gallon actually and he is happy.

A betta who lays on the bottom all the time is sick or cold.

Also, bryan b's recommendation to keep catfish or algae eaters will only make the water DIRTIER, not cleaner. All fish make the water dirtier because they create more waste. And if there is algae in your tank, you can clean it off the sides if you want, but your betta won't care.

As for your other questions, let's see. You use the amount of dechlorinator that the package says. I can't tell you how much to add because every dechlorinator is different. You add it to the water that you are filling up the tank for the first time, AND whenever you do a water change you add it to the new water. DON'T add it daily.

The dechlorinator works immediately to remove chlorine from the new water. That's all you need to do. After you add the dechlorinator to the new water then you pour it into the tank.

This is done when you do your weekly water change. You should change about 20-30% of the water each week and always add dechlorinator to the new water.
